Love

Happy World Cardmaking Day! I’m celebrating simply by doing what I love, marking cards! Today I’m playing along with the latest Runway Inspired Challenge:

Tanya Taylor Spring 2014

I love how the black and white is on the left and the color is on the right, with a slight offset in the lines.  That flow  and offset of color is what caught my eye and inspired me to create the following card:

god_is_love_card

The sentiment is simply stated and I thought a pattern of hearts flowing from plain black to color matched the feel of this sentiment perfectly.  Thanks so much for stopping by! xo- Tyra

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday!

How was your weekend?  I spent time cheering on my favorite college team on a brisk almost fall day. Can you guess what stadium this is?

I also wanted to share a new post for my “Just Add Ink” feature over at the Sweet Stamp Shop: Big Pattern Small Scale.  Please check it out if you have time! Here is a sneak of the card I created for the post:

Joyful Spirit

Hello!

Today, I’m playing along with the latest CAS(E) This Sketch:

CTS_Sketch_45

What a beautiful sketch! So, this is what I created:

Joyful_Spirit_Card

I used Memento Luxe Inks  in Pear Tart and Gray Flannel and I have to say the color is as rich as advertised.  The leaf stamp is from Memory box which I simply turned upside down and shifted to create the leaf patterns at the top and bottom of the card.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.   The wood bird is Recollections (Michael’s) embellishment I colored with a Copic.

I’m trying to step into using more colored card stock.  For this card I used colored card stock as a base, but next time I promise color card stock will take center stage :).  Thanks so much for stopping by! xo- Tyra

Woot! (Again!)

Hi I’m back with more happy news from PaperHaus:

Sept_16th_Reveal_PH

Please see the announcement here.  I am over the moon! I apologize for being late in sharing this with you, but better late the never (Really I’m still adjusting to the start of school for my kiddos). I’m looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone just a little and working with a very talented bunch.

So, if you have followed my blog over the past few weeks, I have had a ton of happy news and I’m walking around in a bit of shock and disbelief!  I keep checking my email to make sure I wasn’t being spammed with all of this great design team news.  I find that its difficult to explain my design team news to my (not crafty) family and friends, so I’m always happy to share this news with my paper crafting friends.

Take care and thanks for stopping by! xo – Tyra

Happy Monday!

Looking Forward to Fall

This is my second post today where I am playing along with the Runway Inspired Challenge:

LelaRose_007_1366.450x675

This time around I took note of the size of each pattern as well as the color to create the following card:

I_Love_Fall_Card

The feather die is from Silhouette and the sentiment is Lawn Fawn.  A happy accident occurred when I painted the small heart with a yellow wink of stella brush and noticed the yellow was too bright.  I colored over the heart again with an alcohol ink marker and the heart continued to sparkle.

Well, that’s all for today. Thanks so much for so stopping by! xo-Tyra

Simple Color

Today I’m playing along with the latest Runway Inspired Challenge, a beautiful color combo of yellow, gray, black and white.

LelaRose_007_1366.450x675

Where do you even start? The patterned background, the yellow blouse, or those pants? Well in this first version (yes, there is a second version…wait for it..) I kept the color palette very simple and minimal:

mere_color_card

Black and white with a pop of yellow.  The sentiment is from the Sweet Stamp Shop (Oh, did you hear my exciting news?).  The cute feather is a die from the Silhouette.  And yes, I’m back to using sequins again.  I can’t help it.  Thanks so much for stopping by! xo- Tyra

Statement Cards

Today I’m featuring cards using stamps from the Sweet Stamp Shop September Release (Don’t miss the release day coupon code below!).  I’m using the sets Easily Distracted and Made by #2:

I don’t know about you, but when I hear a conversation about an upcoming birthday, wedding or other celebration, I tend to only hear “cupcake” or “cake.”  This card captures that moment exactly!

inside_card_white
Cupcakes (in addition to the actual birthday) are cause for special celebration, so I used a Wink of Stella brush to add a little glitter.

pink_cupcake_card_profile

I personalized the back of this card with a sentiment from the Made by #2 Mini Set:

The Made by #2 mini stamp set is a cheeky, sassy little set of handmade sayings.  Use these sayings on all of your crafty creations!

I love cupcakes soo much that I decided to create another cupcake card:

yellow_cupcake_card

I could go for a Sprinkles Cupcake right about now, however playing with the cute cupcake sentiment and cupcake stamps from the Easily Distracted Set is calorie free, meaning I can indulge in this yummy stamp set when I want.

On to another card from the same set:

What a lovely card to give to celebrate an engagement, bridal shower or wedding.   I used Perfect Pearls to give the diamond and the sentiment a little shine.   There is a little perfect pearl surrounding the diamond and the sentiment, giving illusion of a shimmery glow from the card.  Creating  these cards on a 4×4 card allows the sentiments and elements from the Easily Distracted Set to take center stage.

Last, but not least, what is just as good as cupcakes or diamond rings? Shopping of course!

After looking at this card several times, I think I’m going to replace the ribbon with twine.  Here is the inside of the card:
