Week In the Life

Week In The Life 2015 JustTyra

Guys.  It’s been a crazy year so far.  I really would love to capture a snapshot of life as I know it using the latest Week In the Life kit from Ali Edwards.  Ali starts next week, August 17th and I hope to do the same.  Stay tuned.  In the meantime, continue to enjoy what’s left of summer, hug your loved ones and…eat some ice cream.  Hugs, Tyra

It’s 2015!

Happy New Year (better late than never, right?). I’m sorry I’ve been gone for a bit! I had a lot of holiday time off and my family and I have been trying to get back into the swing of school, homework (in kindergarten — yes, they are busy these days!), snow days and work.  I also used my downtime  for goal setting and working with my husband on some big exciting family plans for later this year (I’ll share as soon as I am able, promise).

Creative Blog Hop

My dear crafty friend Keren tagged me for a Creative Blog Hop. I am soo honored! Keren creates such fabulous cards! We chat here and there and always try to support each other.  In fact, Keren was the first to reach out to me with a note of encouragement!
Check out some of Keren’s fabulousness:

Q: What creative projects are you currently working on?
A: Oh my goodness. As of now, I am on four Design Teams this season,  so I’m working on a lot of exciting project work. My biggest play days are Fridays and Saturdays, after work is done, and the kids are tucked in.   I just love it! I am also work on on converting my card class to a .pdf and redesigning my site craftswag.com.
Q: What inspires your designs?
A: My designs are mostly inspired by emotions, feelings and music! One of favorite cards was this one inspired by the song “Overjoyed.”
Q: What method / process (if applicable) do you apply to each of your creative projects, and how long does each project take to complete?
A: Good question! I do actually have a process and it’s explained in a little  card class I recently created.  In a nutshell, I use this method to “organize” my inspiration and focus my design. I would say I could create a card in 10-60 minutes using this method.
Q: If you had to describe your ‘signature’ style, what would it be?
I love clean and simple layouts and cards.   I’m simply drawn to this style and I can’t really explain why.
Q: What are 3 crafting products/tools you can’t live without?
A: I would say my bone folder for card making, my Memento Black Inks (Tuxedo Black regular and luxe, Versafine) for crisp stamping and I’m gonna give a shout out to Dab’N Stic glue! this adhesive is amazing! I had to buy a ton of it for my kids and I bought an extra bottle for myself!
Now time to choose a designer! I’m going to choose Wendy Morris – Her blog, Life. Paper & Soul. is absolutely fabulous. The End. I would love to hear her answers to some of these questions.  I will update this blog post (hopefully) if Wendy has time to share!

Watercolor Play

Hello! I’m back with a little water color play as I play along with Clique Kits Summer School, a summer long event.  Our first challenge involved using watercolor.  Here goes:

JustTyra_Watercolor_Fun

I used the super fab Pelikan Opaque paint kit. Take a peek a the kit in my Two for Tuesday Feature.  I’ll probably use the “Hopes & Dreams” panel for a card.  The sweet little balloons are from the Sweet Stamp Shop.   I used a copic brush marker to write the sentiment on the small tag (Yes I was listening to the song by the same name when I created this tag).  The “hi” is from an old set of white letter stickers.   These projects are not in their finished stage, but really wanted to share what I have created.  That’s all I have for now.  Take care and thanks for stopping by! xo, Tyra

SEI Inspiration Challenge: Flower Power

Happy Thursday! (It’s almost Friday). It’s spring break here in my neck of the woods and the husband and I have split with week spending time with our kiddos while they are out of school.  We started spring break off by attending a wedding near the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan and since that time, things have been pretty low key.  Walks to the park and multiple viewings of Frozen.  As a matter a fact two of my kids are in the same room with me fighting over the DVD jacket.

Well, I’m here to share a sneak peek of the latest SEI Challenge!

SEI_Spring_Flower_Challenge_JustTyra

I loved the paper I used for this project.  The best thing? No watering!  Anyway, I hope you can play along.  There is a $25 gift code to the winner! The kinds folks over at SEI wanted me to mention that this challenge is open to US and Canadian residents.

Thanks for much for stopping by! xo, Tyra
