Triangles, Part 1

Today I’m playing along with Moxie Fab World and The Trendy Triangles Challenge.  I didn’t realize how much I loved triangles, until I saw the inspiration images used for this challenge.

RebelAmish_9492

I went off to the land of Pinterest and found a lovely lovely image very similar to the one above in terms of random patterns against a white background.  I was inspired to create the following card:

triangle_shapes_card_edited-1

I resized two triangle shapes into various sizes inside of a square and cut the pattern out onto two different pieces of patterned paper.  I then used the negative cut to guide the assembly of pieces.  I used a sharpie and a spectrum noir marker to create a marbled look on the “thanks” sentiment. It was a bit of work, but I like it.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  xo- Tyra

Floating Sparkly Color

Today I’m playing along with the latest CASE Study challenge, featuring a beautiful card by Jennifer McGuire:

Umm, yeah, the inspiration card is a beauty!

I created this card:

floating_flower_card

When I saw the inspiration card, I saw floating sparkly color.  So, I die cut a flower and placed sequins behind and on top of the flower, creating a floating, effect (I hope).   I love sequins and I could load up this flower with a ton more, however, I think less is more.  I wish you could touch this flower card as I like the texture the die cut and sequins create.  Thanks so much for stopping by! Take care, xo- Tyra

Making a Difference

Today I’m playing along (at the last possible minute — ha!) with the latest Curtain Call Challenge: Watermelon Wonder:

Love those colors! So airy and light.

I created this card:

butterfly_card

The butterfly is from a set of burlap stickers by Little Yellow Bicycle, stamped with distressed ink in ripe persimmon.  I wrapped the die cut flower around the card and accented with sequins and a little feathered ribbon.  The beautiful sentiment is from Flourishes.  Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend! xo- Tyra

Banner Birthday..In a dash!

I am playing along for the first time with the 10 Minute Craft Dash featuring a birthday theme:

CD_23

I am also playing along with the Birthday Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  Please stop by both wonderful blogs and play along!

This is what I created:

banner_birthday_card

I used patterned paper and a small star punch to decorate the card.  The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday’s Banner Up. Set.  The sentiment was actually a source of inspiration for the little banners.  I tried to create balance using three stamped stars, punched stars and the negative punched stars on the blue banner.

Touched By Kindness

Today I’m playing along with CAS on Sunday’s latest challenge “Tag” It and dahlhouse designs wanna sketch (thanks Rose)

Here is my take:

I used watercolor paint to loosely (and I mean loosely) paint an offset flower onto watercolor paper. The sentiment is from Flourishes.  I am now bitten with the watercolor bug and will explore ways to add watercolor.  Thanks for stopping by! xo- Tyra

A Fanciful Celebration

Today I’m playing along with the latest Runway Inspired Challenge: Zac Posen.

Zac Posen Resort 2014 (from style)

This dress screams luxurious!  This is what I created:

luxury_celebration_card

Keeping with the luxurious theme, I used pearlized cover stock for the card base and the flower.  The script like font of the heat embossed sentiment, from Technique Tuesday, really suited this card well.  I added a few reddish gemstones as a nod to the beautiful dress colors.  Take care and thanks for stopping by! xo- Tyra

CAS(E) This Sketch Guest Designer!

Today, I’m excited to join CAS(E) This Sketch as a Guest Designer this week! Thanks Chrissy for finding me via my Facebook page.  Let’s get to the sketch:

CTS_Sketch_40

Very cute sketch by Karolyn Loncon!  Immediately I noticed how each card element was off to one side of the card.  This is my take on this sketch:

OH_Happy_Day_Greeting_card

The yellow sentiment balloon is rising high above the gray clouds.  The inspirational song by the same name kept playing in my head as I cheerfully created this card.  I hope this card brightens your day.  Thanks for stopping by! xo – Tyra

Solid Gold!

Today, I’m playing along with the latest CAS(E) this sketch

CTS_Sketch_38

…and CASology: GOLD

Week 54 - Gold

..AND last but not least, the  Birthday Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World 🙂

I created this party card:

celebrate_golden_card_edited-1

The gold dots are leftover die cuts. I used a leftover scrap of gold paper behind the “celebrate” sentiment.  I think this card is ready for a party! Take care and thanks for stopping by! xo-Tyra

Missing You

Today I’m playing along with the latest CAS(E) This Sketch:

CTS_37

…and the latest Runway Inspired Challenge:

Runway_Hello_Friend

I created the following card, inspired by the balance of shapes to the sentiment shown in the first challenge, and the color palette from the second challenge:

miss_you_card

I couldn’t help but to use the die cut shapes again. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches. Take care and thanks for stopping by! xo- Tyra

You’ve Got a Friend

Today I’m playing along with the latest Runway Inspired ChallengeStella McCartney.  The bedazzled mini skirt against a white background is fabulous!

Runway_Hello_Friend

This is the card I created:

hello_friend_card

The collage of hearts, arrows and abstract shapes are die cuts from an old patterned paper (Pebbles – American Crafts) and yellow card stock. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.  The crazy arrows and colors work together to create a sense of movement.  Maybe this card is ready to rip the runway! Thanks for stopping by! xo – Tyra
