Sweet and Simple with the Sweet Stamp Shop and CASology

Hello It’s Tyra and today I’m playing along with the latest CASology challenge where the cue card for this week is: EAT

Week 123 - Eat

I’m sharing this sweet and simple card I created using the “Take Out” set from the Sweet Stamp Shop:

And here is the card I created:

SSS Take Out Card Tyra Babington_edited-1

Since moving back to the midwest, I’m delighted that I can now enjoy a few (truly Americanized) take out restaurants! My favorites are beef and broccoli, shrimp with veggies and rice, rice rice. And did I mention rice? Speaking of rice, I wonder why I have yet to invest  in a rice cooker?  There are so many textures, flavors and variety of rice!  If anyone has a rice cooker, please leave a comment with your recommendation – please?

Sorry for the rambling, back to the CASology challenge.  It’s so nice to play along with card challenges. There’s such a wonderful community cultivated on the  various challenge sites. One last thing about CASology – The design team provide tips called “Design Defined.” When I started to take up an interest in card making, these tips proved to be so valuable to me.  I love to see the new tips posted with each challenge! This to me is what set this talented team a part from many others!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! xo, Tyra

It’s sometimes hard to photograph gold, so please bear with me on this photo.  All of that totally blinged out gold is courtesy of DCWV gilded paper stack + vellum pack.  Two gorgeous packs of paper for a wonderful price.  Talk about making a ton of ready made cards.

Another Camera Card

Hey I’m back with another entry into Moxie Fab World’s Clicking Camera Challenge.  This is a card I created using Clique Kits July release.  I love using ready-made embellishments and leftover paper to create a quick card:

Speaking of  smiling for the camera, I’m currently scoping out my house for an alternate spot to take photos, year around (I’m thinking about you, winter).   Here is that same card, in a different light:

Clique_Kits_July_Camera_Card_JustTyra

I’m not quite sure about this location, but whatever I choose, I realize I would need to take all my photos on the weekends, since I’m not home until late afternoons during the week.  The last time I took photos at home on the weekend, there were toys flying everywhere, food cooking, clothes waiting to be dried and a grocery list needing attention.  So I’m choosing between nighttime/ quiet & peaceful /”studio” light  VERSUS daytime /lovely but chaotic family noise/natural light.  And then there’s the return of glorious football (Yes I love watching football).   Umm, we will see.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Smile for the camera!

Hi, it’s Tyra and I’m playing along with Moxie Fab World’s Clicking Cameras Challenge. I created the following card using  Amy Tan’s Camera embossing folder from her Plus One collection and Core’dinations card stock. After embossing the card stock, I used We R Memory Keepers Sweetheart Distresser to highlight the embossed cameras.

If you are ever challenged with using textured card stock in card making, just pair your card stock with “heavier”sentiments and embellishments.  For example, I decided to use die cuts to complete this card. I used a camera file cut from my Silhouette.  The Smile sentiment is from my own line, CraftSwag (available soon).  A little sequin “dots” the i in the smile sentiment.  I adhered the panels at an angle because, well, it just felt right 🙂 .

I was a bit more wordy today, but I hope you enjoyed stopping by!

HB2U

Hey crafty people!  Today I’m playing along with the latest Runway Inspired Challenge. Here is the challenge picture:

And here is my take on that cute outfit:

HB2U card JustTyra_v2

I decided to create a “Happy Birthday card, using card stock from Allison Kreft for the base, added a layer of vellum with a few holes punched here and there, and finally letters from Pinkfresh studio. I also emphasized lines (stripes) in this card, similar to the seam lines in the jacket that flow into the crease lines in the pants.  And yes, I’m still using sequins (sequins are still a little trendy, right?).

Take care and thanks for stopping by! xo, Tyra
