Just popping by today to share a new challenge I’ve been playing along with: The Tag You’re It’s challenge! It looks to be relatively new and I love making tags! Here is the inspiration photo:

Here is my first take!

The flowers were randomly painted with watercolor. The flowers themselves come from a Silhouette die cutting file. That’s all for now! it’s late! Take care and thanks for stopping by!

Blushed Hello

Hi It’s Tyra and I wanted to share a little fun with an embossing folder I picked up from The Crafter’s Workshop.

I used embossing paste + spray inks from Mr. Hueys to create the pattern on the card.  I cut the mat at an angle and matted it onto the card.  The “hello” sentiment is from the latest Simon Says Stamp card kit. I’m playing along with the Simon Says Anything Goes Challenge.  As always, thanks so much for  stopping by! Tyra 🙂

Have a Happy Day!

Hi It’s Tyra and I’m here to play along with the latest CASE study:

I love the colors and the vellum, don’t you! Here is my inspired take:

I finally got a chance to use Ranger’s layering stencil and added vellum on top.  Also I used one of my favorite dies from Studio Calico — a die that creates a stitched effect.  The string is from my last Clique Kits.  That’s all for now.  thanks so much for stopping by!

Honor Society Challenge…A potpourri of goodness

Hello It’s Tyra and today I’m finally sharing some of what I made with that Clique Kits  Kit Haul I shared. Warning, A LOT of pictures. I just got into a little creative groove, so here it is. And there are more paperclips. Last, I am supposed to share a few of my favorite things. Well time with my personal circus act, a.k.a. my kids and of course card making.  So I will let the pictures speak for themselves. 9457536_orig   Honor_Society_Blog_Share_JustTyra_Hi_and_Hello_Card Honor_Society_Blog_Share_JustTyra_Adored Honor_Society_Blog_Share_JustTyra_tag Honor_Society_Blog_Share_JustTyra_Lucky     Honor_Society_Blog_Share_JustTyra_Today_Layout Thanks so much for stopping by! Hello My Name Is…Moxie Fab Photo Pocket Page Challenge

Today I’m playing along with Moxie Fab World’s Photo Pocket Page Challenge which calls for creating a paper crafted project featuring a journaling card. Fortunately, I was struck with inspiration from one of my favorite songs when I created this card:

Hello_My_Name_Is_Just_Tyra

This song “Hello My Name Is” has different meaning for different people. For me is a a song that truly touches my heart!

The sentiment taped onto the card is my handwriting plus a fun typewriter font.  I created a .png of it and printed it onto vellum.  I layered with a little strip of paper from the latest Simon Says Stamp (July 2014) card kit and more vellum.  I added some twine I found in the Target dollar bin , a tiny paperclip and I was done.   This is a wonderful card for encouragement.  That’s all for now!  Take care, have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!

Polka Thank you

Hi! Sorry I’ve been gone for a while but with a new season comes a little change in my routine.  I have added keeping up with a vegetable garden to my daily to do list and I love the work that goes into it, but goodness I am tired! Anyway, I did find time to play along with the latest CASE Study:

I absolutely love Pamela Ho’s card! Well, here is my take:

I would have loved better light, but I’ll take what I can get.  I used a little embossing paste and tried to paint some of the little dots with shimmery acrylic paint.  I topped the card off with a sentiment embossed onto vellum.  That’s all for now.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Humpday Hero to the rescue: Crayons

Hi! I’m back to share a little experimentation I did with good old fashioned crayons. Using a simple and inexpensive medium like crayons allows you to experiment with color (before playing with more expensive mediums):

Brilliant_Crayon_Card_2

This card is the result of a mistake I made when I colored the card stock with crayons then die cut it…backwards.  Little did I know that this mistake would produce a cool, “backlit” effect! See the subtle hints of pink and blue?   My photo doesn’t do this card justice, but I encourage you to try this technique  if want to add a wisp of color to an otherwise super clean and simple card.

Again, I created another card to demonstrate how crayons play nicely with die cuts.

That’s all I have for now. Explore more fun facts about Crayola crayons here.  Take care and thank you for stopping by my blog! xo, Tyra

Hand Picked Challenge with SEI

Hello and Happy June! June is one of my favorite months of the year. The farmers market is in full swing, by now my little herb and veggie garden is planted (I’ve only been gardening for two years) and it’s my birthday month 🙂

I’m dropping in to share the cards I created for the new monthly challenge over at SEI:

Hand_Picked_SEI_Teacher_Cards_edited-1

I created these cards as teacher thank you cards and inserted coffee gift cards in the front pocket.  I used red gingham patterned washi tape to make sure the gift card didn’t fall out.  I wish I took a picture of the card with the washi, but like always I was in a rush and needed to get these to the teachers before the last day of school (barely made it).

Also, here is a fun tip: Create a vellum mat to soften and mute a “busy” paper pattern and allow your main card element (in this case the apple die cut and pocket) to take center stage.  I just love the effect of the vellum paper.

These cards are busy, bright and a step outside of the clean and simple cards I tend to create, but I like it and I think the cards were appropriate for the occasion.  So if you have time and have some SEI or summer paper you’ve been wanting to play around with, check out the SEI challenge here.  There is a $25 gift code available to the challenge winner! Take care and thanks so much for stopping by! xo, Tyra
