Banner Birthday..In a dash!

I am playing along for the first time with the 10 Minute Craft Dash featuring a birthday theme:

CD_23

I am also playing along with the Birthday Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  Please stop by both wonderful blogs and play along!

This is what I created:

banner_birthday_card

I used patterned paper and a small star punch to decorate the card.  The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday’s Banner Up. Set.  The sentiment was actually a source of inspiration for the little banners.  I tried to create balance using three stamped stars, punched stars and the negative punched stars on the blue banner.

Spot On Congrats

Today I’m playing along with this week’s Case Study Challenge:

CSC150_zps42aa7de6

I created the following card based on the beautiful color scheme:

congratulations_dots

I cut out fused circles on patterned paper using my silhouette and then I cut the same pattern on white card stock and colored the dots.  I popped out some of the dots using a foam circle.  Simple and fun.  Thanks for stopping by! xo- Tyra

Polka Dot Birthday

Today I’m playing along with the latest Color Throwdown Challenge:
swatch+250

As well as the latest CAS-ual Fridays Challenge:cfc109polkadot

I created a crazy polka dot birthday card, complete with dancing “Happy” letters.

Polka_Dot_Birthday

I love CAS-ual Friday’s Shenanigans sentiment set.  The sentiments are some of the larger sentiments I have seen and really stand out!  I tried the ghosting technique seen on some popular inky blogs and I like it. One tip: If you do not get the white outline around all the letters, use a white marker to touch it up.  I used Zig’s writer chalk marker.  The polka dots are leftover circles from die cutting I colored with Copics.  Thanks for stopping by! — xo- Tyra

Let’s Go For a Ride

I’m playing along with CAS(E) This Sketch Today.

The paint splatter shown on the sketch was a challenge as my “paint splotches” looked more like blobs of goo.  So I used sequins in a random pattern instead:

I kept things pretty simple, using stamps from a favorite Close To My Heart Set.  Take care and thanks for stopping by! — Tyra

Love and Light

I’m playing with The Play Date Cafe and CAS on Sunday (One Layer Wonder):

0color story 188

This is the card I created:

you_light_up_my_life_2

I used Tsukineko’s  Dew Drops and Versa Ink.  This card features Technique Tuesday’s Bright Idea Set.  I had a hard time finding an ink close to raspberry and photographing the same color on a cloudy day. Overlapping the light and dark colors provides depth on this one layer card.  I like the result.  Thanks for stopping by! xo – Tyra

May the odds be Ever in your Favor…

Hi! Today I’m playing along with CASE Study because I love the marbled effect of the card AND CAS-sual Fridays challenge theme which is Hunger Games because I just finished the trilogy.

This is the card I came up with:

hunger_games_greeting_card

I used a lovely cut file from Creativity = Sanity.  I sprayed the image with Tsukineko’s Fireworks sprays in Dandelion, Lady Bug, and Tangelo to get the marbled color effect.  I dabbed Ranger Stickles in gold onto the arrow for a little pop.  I created the sentiment digitally and I used leftover scraps for the small banners to give balance to the large mockingjay.  A happy accident occurred when I placed my card down on a spray covered desk, resulting in yellow specks on the card front.

I enjoyed the Hunger Games trilogy and one phrase that stood out to me was Effie Trinket saying “May the odds be ever in your favor!”

One tip: I left the cutout on the silhouette mat and sprayed it.  I believe this reduced curling. Thanks for stopping by! xo- Tyra

Celebrate Independence Day

I am playing along with the  CAS-ual Fridays challenge: Over the Edge.
July_4th_Card

This card features a fun dimensional star die from Impress Rubber Stamps and is typically used for Christmas themed stars.  However, I think this star is perfect on an Independence Day card.  If you are here in the United States, have a wonderful 4th! Thanks for stopping by! xo- Tyra
