Banner Birthday..In a dash!

I am playing along for the first time with the 10 Minute Craft Dash featuring a birthday theme:

I am also playing along with the Birthday Card Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. Please stop by both wonderful blogs and play along!

This is what I created:

I used patterned paper and a small star punch to decorate the card. The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday’s Banner Up. Set. The sentiment was actually a source of inspiration for the little banners. I tried to create balance using three stamped stars, punched stars and the negative punched stars on the blue banner.

Touched By Kindness

Today I’m playing along with CAS on Sunday’s latest challenge “Tag” It and dahlhouse designs wanna sketch (thanks Rose)

Here is my take:

I used watercolor paint to loosely (and I mean loosely) paint an offset flower onto watercolor paper. The sentiment is from Flourishes. I am now bitten with the watercolor bug and will explore ways to add watercolor. Thanks for stopping by! xo- Tyra

A Fanciful Celebration

Today I’m playing along with the latest Runway Inspired Challenge: Zac Posen.

This dress screams luxurious! This is what I created:

Keeping with the luxurious theme, I used pearlized cover stock for the card base and the flower. The script like font of the heat embossed sentiment, from Technique Tuesday, really suited this card well. I added a few reddish gemstones as a nod to the beautiful dress colors. Very cute sketch by Karolyn Loncon! Immediately I noticed how each card element was off to one side of the card. This is my take on this sketch:

Handmade In D-Town

Today I tried to play with Sweet Stamp Shop’s Use What You Have Challenge #10 but it appeared the link has closed :(. In any case, I was so happy with what I made just using my stash, I wanted to share it 🙂

First, here is my hot mess of a stash. This stash is a victim of curious little hands and a hurried mom:

Here is the result:

I used a little floss to attach all the elements. My favorite embellishment, the “Handmade Detroit” flair, is from an up-cycle shop in town.

This tag symbolizes a lot to me. The rugged tag represents the current state of the city, however the pretty ribbon and flair is a reminder that great ideas and people are also found in Detroit.

Today I’m playing along with the latest Runway Inspired Challenge – Stella McCartney. The bedazzled mini skirt against a white background is fabulous!

This is the card I created:

The collage of hearts, arrows and abstract shapes are die cuts from an old patterned paper (Pebbles – American Crafts) and yellow card stock. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches. I created the following card based on the beautiful color scheme:

I cut out fused circles on patterned paper using my silhouette and then I cut the same pattern on white card stock and colored the dots. I popped out some of the dots using a foam circle. Simple and fun. Thanks for stopping by! xo- Tyra

I’m playing along with Curtain Call’s Feeling Nautical Challenge:

The Paper Crafts July Gallery Challenge, also featuring a nautical theme and Simon Says Stamp’s “By The Sea” Challenge

I created the following:

I believe the sentiment complements the different card elements (e.g. sea background, anchor, compass) well. This sentiment is actually a verse I have referred to time and time again when life has taken unexpected twists and turns.
