Smile for the camera!

Hi, it’s Tyra and I’m playing along with Moxie Fab World’s Clicking Cameras Challenge. I created the following card using  Amy Tan’s Camera embossing folder from her Plus One collection and Core’dinations card stock. After embossing the card stock, I used We R Memory Keepers Sweetheart Distresser to highlight the embossed cameras.

If you are ever challenged with using textured card stock in card making, just pair your card stock with “heavier”sentiments and embellishments.  For example, I decided to use die cuts to complete this card. I used a camera file cut from my Silhouette.  The Smile sentiment is from my own line, CraftSwag (available soon).  A little sequin “dots” the i in the smile sentiment.  I adhered the panels at an angle because, well, it just felt right 🙂 .

I was a bit more wordy today, but I hope you enjoyed stopping by!

HB2U

Hey crafty people!  Today I’m playing along with the latest Runway Inspired Challenge. Here is the challenge picture:

And here is my take on that cute outfit:

HB2U card JustTyra_v2

I decided to create a “Happy Birthday card, using card stock from Allison Kreft for the base, added a layer of vellum with a few holes punched here and there, and finally letters from Pinkfresh studio. I also emphasized lines (stripes) in this card, similar to the seam lines in the jacket that flow into the crease lines in the pants.  And yes, I’m still using sequins (sequins are still a little trendy, right?).

Take care and thanks for stopping by! xo, Tyra

Kit Haul! Clique Kits August Release

Hi crafty people! Sorry I’ve been out for a bit, but things have been a little cray! (yes, I said “cray” – is that word already out of style??).  School is starting soon and we are preparing for that too! And I’ve been working on a few other crafty surprises — stay tuned, details to come soon!

Anyway, here is my latest haul from Clique Kits (Click on the pic to see more detail):

Do you see that cute little deer/doe? I’m not sure she’ll make it onto any layout or card. I might just keep her in my purse pocket since she is so cute.  I LOVE all of the gold foil accents! I can’t wait to get my hands on this one!  I think this collection is also great for Christmas if you are looking for something different than the traditional red and green.

Take care and thanks so much for stopping by!

Time Savers: Back to School Tag

With school starting next month (time flies, doesn’t it?), I searched my stash for stamps with a “back-to-school” theme and I created the following tag:

Teacher Tag JustTyra_edited-1

The tag above was created with Sweet Stamp Shop images, Studio Calico Alphas and Inspiration Ave’s stamped sentiments.  I colored in the images with Copics of various colors.   I was pretty satisfied with the finished product except for the fact that I have more than one child, which means  I have more than one teacher to create a gift tag for.

So I made a photocopy of the tag using my supper cheap and old HP Inkjet onto more Neenah card stock. I used my lil’ inkers tag die cut the copy, resulting in:

Two tags that are nearly identical.  I added some shading to the glue bottle on the copy similar to the original.  A true timesaver!    That’s all for now. Take care and thanks for stopping by!

Christmas in July with 52 Christmas Card Throwdown

I found a cute Christmas sticker sheet from Bella Blvd I wanted to create with so I played along with the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown — a challenge for all things Christmas! Yes.  This challenge provides a few different prompts to choose from.  The sticker challenge, of course, was perfect for me!

Here is what I created:

I used my Silhouette to cut tags, panels and and the swirly circle using Bella Blvd (green patterned) and Simon Says Stamp (red & pink striped) paper to create a home for the coordinating sticker sentiments.  I added string and there you have it — a card and coordinating tag set.

So just for today — Merry Christmas! — and thanks for stopping by!

Honor Society Challenge…July

9457536_orig

Hello It’s Tyra and today I’m participating in the Clique Kits Honor Society July Blog Share! I enjoyed playing with the beautiful Allison Kreft papers and I managed to make a few more layouts and cards.  Let’s get to the pictures, shall we?

Notebook_Scrapbooking_JustTyraI did something a little different with this first layout.  I had a leather bound journal sitting around with several clear picture pockets. I created this journal entry and added a few embellishments. I love the way it looks and I will probably continue to journal this way when I have the chance.

A traditional layout, and then, of course…

Let’s Play: CASE Study and Curtain Call

Today I’m playing along with the latest CASE Study Challenge:

CSC199_zpse07b9792As well as the latest and greatest Curtain Call Challenge,

anything goes

Here is my take:

Smile_Card_Just_Tyra

It was soo nice to put my little nested circle dies to use in such a modern way.  The little circle “compartments” in the card remind me of the bookshelf compartments in the second inspiration pic.

Well that’s all for now.  I’m going to use the little bit of energy I have left to work on my upcoming class for CraftSwag involving working with color.  I think I’m going to call it “Easy Color” even though the word combination reminds me of the Phil Collins song “Easy Lover.” Ha! sometimes that’s how my mind works! Thanks so much for stopping by!
