Hello…

Today, I’m delighted to play along with the Sketchbook Saturday Challenge from the oh so very talented Iwona Palamountain:

With this card:

circle_hello

A literal take on the original.  I used various markers to color the hello sentiment as well as the panel mounted behind the rows of circles.  I love this color as it reminds me of tropical water.  Thank you so much for stopping by! xo- Tyra

Making a Difference

Today I’m playing along (at the last possible minute — ha!) with the latest Curtain Call Challenge: Watermelon Wonder:

Love those colors! So airy and light.

I created this card:

butterfly_card

The butterfly is from a set of burlap stickers by Little Yellow Bicycle, stamped with distressed ink in ripe persimmon.  I wrapped the die cut flower around the card and accented with sequins and a little feathered ribbon.  The beautiful sentiment is from Flourishes.  Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend! xo- Tyra

Handmade In D-Town

Today I tried to play with Sweet Stamp Shop’s Use What You Have Challenge #10 but it appeared the link has closed :(.  In any case, I was so happy with what I made just using my stash, I wanted to share it 🙂

First, here is my hot mess of a stash.  This stash is a victim of curious little hands and a hurried mom:

Here is the result:

handmade_detroit_tag

I used a little floss to attach all the elements.  My favorite embellishment, the “Handmade Detroit” flair, is  from an up-cycle shop in town.

This tag symbolizes a lot to me.  The rugged tag represents the current state of the city, however the pretty ribbon and flair is a reminder that great ideas and people are also found in Detroit.

Take care and thanks for much for stopping by!!  xo- Tyra

Spot On Congrats

Today I’m playing along with this week’s Case Study Challenge:

CSC150_zps42aa7de6

I created the following card based on the beautiful color scheme:

congratulations_dots

I cut out fused circles on patterned paper using my silhouette and then I cut the same pattern on white card stock and colored the dots.  I popped out some of the dots using a foam circle.  Simple and fun.  Thanks for stopping by! xo- Tyra

Rise

I’m playing along with Curtain Call’s Feeling Nautical Challenge:

ccc_template_july15_feelingnautical

The Paper Crafts July Gallery Challenge, also featuring a nautical theme and Simon Says Stamp’s “By The Sea” Challenge

I created the following:

rise_card_nautical

I believe the sentiment complements the different card elements (e.g. sea background, anchor, compass) well.   This sentiment is actually a verse I have referred to time and time again when life has taken unexpected twists and turns.

I took a chance using a muted color palette on this card, but I like the result.  That’s all for now! Take care and thanks so much for stopping by! xo- Tyra 😉

Materials: Flourishes background stamp, Silhouette anchor die, studio calico card stock.

Polka Dot Birthday

Today I’m playing along with the latest Color Throwdown Challenge:
swatch+250

As well as the latest CAS-ual Fridays Challenge:cfc109polkadot

I created a crazy polka dot birthday card, complete with dancing “Happy” letters.

Polka_Dot_Birthday

I love CAS-ual Friday’s Shenanigans sentiment set.  The sentiments are some of the larger sentiments I have seen and really stand out!  I tried the ghosting technique seen on some popular inky blogs and I like it. One tip: If you do not get the white outline around all the letters, use a white marker to touch it up.  I used Zig’s writer chalk marker.  The polka dots are leftover circles from die cutting I colored with Copics.  Thanks for stopping by! — xo- Tyra

Over Dreams

Today I’m playing along with Moxie Fab World’s Mixy-Matchy Style Challenge and CAS(E) this Sketch. Moxie Fab featured several inspirational images for the current challenge, however the anchors in the following image captured my attention:

moxiefabmixymatchysample

Add into the mix CAS(E) This Sketch’s latest sketch

CTS_Sketch_36

This is the card I created:

Over_Dreams_card

The sentiment is a verse from one of my favorite songs, Overjoyed by Stevie Wonder.  When I hear that song, I “see” ocean, blue skies and clouds.

Watching too much Home and Garden TV (HGTV) helped with coordinating the different patterned papers.  The interior designer usually advises the client to pick an inspiration piece and design around it. Following that advice, I used the light blue patterned paper to pick patterned papers for the frame and the cloud.  I love love the anchor pattern, from Glitz’s Uncharted Waters line.

So, there you have it! Thanks so much for stopping by!! xo- Tyra
