Week In The Life: A Weekend in 2015

So I just let go of what I know I don’t know
And I know I’ll only do this by
Living in the moment
Living our life
Easy and breezy
With peace in my mind
With peace in my heart
Peace in my soul

The Weekend, August 22-23, 2015

JustTyra - WITL - The Weekend

Pardon me, but it’s been a marathon getting this series posted. That weekend was a great one, kicked off by breakfast at a pancake house, grilling (it was on point, tho’ – that’s slang for delicious) and capped off with a trip to the state fair, which was surprisingly fun (except for the part where the Sun literally sat on our shoulders, while we stood on the hot concrete, swatting the bees away from our $8 frozen, now melting slushy drinks that the babies took maybe 3 sips of. People do this every year??…okay, but everyone is smiling, so I’m smiling too..hush). Past the big move-in, past the hospital, past the busyness that often entangles and distracts, we grabbed a little piece of summer that weekend.

Friday is here.

Start the week here.

Week In The Life: A Friday In 2015

So much love
The kids are laughing in their sleep
Swimming through their dreams into the morning
So peaceful all the stories that we’re told
Lead them through the night back from the shadows
So much joy every little girl and boy
Even better when they wake up tomorrow
So much love

Apparently, my memory fails me, because this potpourri of photos reveals that on this particular Friday I used my best buy gift card (I received a gift card, for a small dent left on my macbook after a recent repair)  to get the new memory card for my camera.  My “smartphone” camera phone was still broken.

Cantaloupe was on the menu for a weekday breakfast,  and there were plans to attend the state fair courtesy of my place of work providing free tickets.  Last, I’m reminded of an unpainted stairway for one last week (it was painted the following week).

See that little lady standing in the light of her brother’s doorway? We were getting ready for school.  This collection of photos captures just a whisper of Friday.

Thursday is here.

Week In The Life: A Thursday In 2015

I’m 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I’m just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

Thursday, August 20, 2015 , I’m catching up!

It could only happen to me — a potpourri of minor unfortunately events, including  a fried DSLR memory card , a busted iPhone camera (I got a new phone this past weekend) and a lost Facebook password (Since I replaced my phone, i was automatically logged out of Facebook and I could not remember the password after trying only 1,326 times. I’m still logged on via my laptop). Someone, please help?

That being said, this is my sole  photo taken on this Thursday, courtesy of husband’s camera.

I found this dress / tunic / forgiving shirt / blue jean dream at Banana (Banana Republic, however, if you and I were having a live conversation, I would simply refer to this store as Banana), ready to rock all season round. Celebrating a silly clothing purchasing means that all is good at this moment, thereby allowing me to focus on something so inconsequential as a blue dream, excuse me, blue jean dress / tunic / forgiving shirt / thing.  Here’s looking at you, Thursday. xo, Tyra

Wednesday is here.

Week In The Life: A Wednesday In 2015

I keep my life on a heavy rotation
Requesting that it’s lifting you up
Up up and away
And over to a table at the Gratitude Café

Wednesday, August 19, 2015 (I recovered my pictures)

JustTyra_WITL_Wed_2015

Wednesday (I always have trouble spelling Wednesday, when I’m typing, I’m phonetically thinking Weh – NES – day and add a d.  That and the word “survey.” I always misspell it “survery”) started off with a cup of Dunkin (1 cream 1 sugar).

Speaking of Dunkin D, I mentioned to “Husband” that I noticed the super giant mug in the store and I was wondering if it was too big to be a personal mug, but it was a nice personal mug.  Husband gently informed me that it wasn’t a personal mug, it’s a community sized “mug” for bringing coffee to the office, or some occasion like that.   Oh, okay, I was just playin’.   I wasn’t really thinking about buying it as a personal mug (yes I was).

Dinner was Costco pasta and fancy Vodka sauce topped with basil Leaves (the basil was fresh and it’s counts as a vegetable right?)

And I included this picture of a basket I found at Home Goods. Check out that painter’s tape still on the floor.  We are going to touch up the baseboards, I guess.  The clouds that rolled in last evening and I wish I took a picture.  I didn’t want to look like a crazy lady on the porch, pointing my camera at the sky.  I’ll try not to care next time.

Realize that when I type about an ordinary day, I’m in a good place,  because a month ago, I would have typed about one of my sweet children being ill.  I’m thankful for the ordinary. I’m thankful for a lot of activity that leaves me tired at the end of the day.

And today was another one of those full and ordinary days.  I’m thankful.  I pray I never take it for granted.

Check out Tuesday here.

Are going to play out

Tuesday, August 18, 2015 (a few days late because I lost all of my pictures)

Tuesday started off with a work sponsored class related to Productivity:  Franklin Covey’s “5 Choices to Extraordinary Productivity.”  Super Fancy and helpful.  I’m already using (as best as I possibly can) Laura Casey’s Powersheets for goal setting, however I think overlaying Covey’s approach will allow me to prioritize those goals while rendering some meaningless.  I just need 2-4 interrupted hours to refresh my goals (umm, where in the sam heck am I going to find 4 hours?). Speaking of Franklin Covey, I recall receiving the ginormous (gigantic + enormous) Franklin Covey Binder at my very first job out of college. I think I wrote 1 maybe two lines in the whole entire thing. But it was pretty!

I digress! After work,  pizza and salad was dinner, followed by homework, reading, bed and bath. I should mention that I try to talk to my sisters on the drive home. I’m trying to talk to my mom, but her phone is a little jacked up (that means on the fritz, fried, broken).  The phone converts my Mom’s voice from normal to Charlie Brown parent language (Wah, wuh Wah Waa.  Mommy ! You need a new phone! I really want to talk to you, I’m not trying to get off of the phone).

I finally received a copy of Jen Hatmaker’s book “For the Love” and I’m pretty excited to read it (there I go, thinking I have time to read).  I would have more to share but my mind was wiped due to sheer panic of losing 6 months of photos from my memory card (yeah, I should have sent those lovelies to the cloud).  I found some software on the interwebs that recovered most of everything including a birthday, the first day of school, and of course the last few days.  And now those lovelies are in the cloud! Life is good.

Check out Monday here.

You would hear hope that wouldn’t let go

You would hear love that never gave up

Monday, August 17, 2015

Today was (so thankfully) a normal day, beginning with dropping the kids off at the bus stop. I began what would be a 30 minute commute into work, not before stopping for an extra large cup of coffee.  I stayed up way too late the night (the insomnia) / morning before, working on prepping posts for JustTyra and CraftSwag.  I loved getting back into a normal routine after several weeks of ups (the big move) and downs (one of my precious babies was sick, really sick).

We received tickets for the Notre Dame vs. Texas game, along with a few other games in what appeared to big a fancy container to cradle the tickets.  I felt odd (old, like ancient..actually) once I realized that one of the football “legends” on the tickets (who shall remain nameless, to protect the year and thus the calculation of age) was someone I remembered during my first year on campus (Really?).

An organized shelf of bookbags full of little homework assignments and songs to practice (R-E-D – Red!, R-E-D, Red! I can spell red! I can spell red!) needed to be completed, along with dinner (potpourri of chicken strips, Sunday’s homemade pizza, fries, broccoli for the kids, cornish hens and fancy vegetables for the adults), baths (water was everywhere), book time and prayer of gratitude and thankfulness for a normal day (versus a day, not to long ago, spent in the hospital, in the same clothes for 2-3 days straight, waiting, not sleeping).

I sat down long enough to watch a little TV and Jimmy Fallon and off to prep pics for this blog post along with other design team assignments.

By now it’s super late (I can’t sleep), a few dishes are undone (I ran out of steam), but at least we are all home.

Week In the Life

Week In The Life 2015 JustTyra

Guys.  It’s been a crazy year so far.  I really would love to capture a snapshot of life as I know it using the latest Week In the Life kit from Ali Edwards.  Ali starts next week, August 17th and I hope to do the same.  Stay tuned.  In the meantime, continue to enjoy what’s left of summer, hug your loved ones and…eat some ice cream.  Hugs, Tyra
